parade!

Nolan has experienced his first parade and it was a good one to be first. Our neighborhood has an annual parade with the local homecoming queen on the back of a convertible, local baton twirling squads of girls, the Shriners in their little cars, local marching bands and lots of people throwing out candy to the kids! It was the first time that Nolan had seen so much candy since I think we ate most of it at Halloween.... He enjoyed sweet tarts, smarties, toffee, tootsie rolls and suckers! A litany of childish treats. He will eagerly await the next parade for sure.

This is a poor quality photo for sure, but I had to show how Nolan was shepherding his friend back to the curb! They were allowed to run into the street to grab candy and come back, and Nolan made doubly sure that his friend did. The other interesting thing about this day was that when I arrived at the parade I hadn't seen Nolan in almost two days because of work and normally he reacts by clinging on to me. This time he ran toward his friend, saying, "Mama's home! Look!" Of course his friend didn't see the point of Nolan's excitement and kept playing with him like normal. I finally tore Nolan away from his games to steal a hug. Huh.
