heat wave
We almost forgot to go to our neighborhood's weekly music festival tonight but thankfully saw it as we were all taking a bike ride after dinner. Today was hot by Milwaukee's standards, I think it got up to 85 degrees, so everyone was sweltering in the heat. After a weekend in Tennessee and actually enjoying the 90 something degree warmth, I was amused by the PSAs on the radio warning everyone to stay hydrated and avoid heat stroke. I was joking about this with a neighbor, when I looked over at Nolan who had been running hard all day, mostly outside, and his cheeks just looked more and more red and felt blazing hot. I offered him some water and he about chugged a whole bottle. He did fine running and playing the whole night, until he was upset about leaving his friends of course, and at that point I just had to put him in his sidecar and drizzle him with water for the cool ride home. He took a cool bath and of course was happy, but I have to remember that even though Nolan was born in Tennessee he has spent most of his life here and is more accustomed to the weather patterns up here than I am...
