pooper update
So, I may have created a monster. The new toy car for poop in the potty exchange is going so well, that Nolan wouldn't get off the potty tonight. I had meant for him to only get a new car for actually doing the deed, but today he ran to the potty saying he needed to poop and all he did was toot. John felt that it was a good faith effort and Nolan got a "new" car that John had gotten at a thrift store. So as I am trying to get Nolan to bed, he sits on the potty and creates genuine effort, like abdominal muscles flexing, and declares, "I get a new car!" I hated to do it, but we had a careful conversation that he had to actually make poop. Nolan then ran back to the potty and continued to try! You have to admire his determination.

Imagine how it might (ahem) backfire when Nolan, age 16 and ready for wheels of his own, first goes to the car dealership. "I get a new car!"
This offer will expire. It definitely won't last that long! He is so determined though, I'm afraid the expectation for a new car may last too long past the mastery of the skill.
