return to Lazy Branch

Nolan passed out immediately in the car on the way back to his grandparent's house. It's so nice for a city boy to have a wooded place to go. He loves the walk down their road with all the cows, horses and other various farm animals. We spent a lot of time watching birds from inside as they gorged on the multiple bird feeders. We had one bird waking us up every morning, a red cardinal raving mad at it's own reflection in all of our windows. We would stand back just enough so Nolan could watch it go "peck peck." He also loves checking out his Grampa's multiple vehicles. His truck, his old Mercedes and his tractor. He liked to sit down in the bed of the truck like a true country boy on the wheel well. Most of all, he liked being spoiled by his grandparents.

They rented for him the movie Cars which is now a favorite. Nolan was then lucky enough to get toy replicas of the characters and carries them around everywhere and knows them by name. He also got to paint for the first time with water colors and got a lesson from his grandmother. I caught her telling him techniques on using a little verses a lot of water to produce more saturated color. I'm sure it all sunk in.
