Actually on the first night of our trip, Nolan got to meet his grandparent's soon to be neighbor, Elizabeth. Nolan is still a little hard to understand by those who are not his parents (or his mom really... John once got me on the phone trying to figure out what Nolan wanted). So Elizabeth wondered how to relate to our little two year old. My mom suggested that she play the mimicking game, and so they then had a great time each making silly faces and movements on the couch.

We got to spend a little bit more time with his Uncle Collin and Aunt Emily this time around. Nolan discovered that Emily is a zookeeper! This totally fascinated him, especially when he saw her in the meerkat's pen. He is slowly realizing what work is and all the different types. He said to me once matter of fact, "You're a doctor." He asks me regularly if I'm going to go to work as his way of figuring out whether I'm around to play for a while. He now also adds the question whether I am going to walk the dogs, as frequently on the weekend I will do that right at his nap time when he seems a bit incorrigible. I don't tell him that his dad's work is to watch after him, but whenever John is on the computer I say he is working. I can't wait until Nolan starts telling me all the different things he wants to do. At the top of the list now I would be is a train engineer, although being a zoo keeper looked awfully fun to him. He does just randomly come out with "I want to go to the zoo!" No provocation for this request, no hints dropped. He just wants to go.
