I didn't realize that I had used this for a blog title before, but since Nolan is our "little monkey" as we affectionately call him, it shouldn't surprise me. This time I mean it a little more literally. This classic toy claps the cymbals and then nods its head up and down like "yes." Nolan loves it, the dogs less so. I've been using it to try and teach Nolan how to say yes, since he so stubbornly refuses to use that word. You ask him, "Do you want something to eat?" "NOOOOOO" or better yet "NO NO NO NO NO" is the response you get. Then when you ask him about what he apparently does want, say milk for instance, he will be quiet. No affirmation except for silence, or he'll tell you no even though he wants it. The thing is, he will say no many times with a smile, as if he knows it's a game.
One of his favorite word play games right now is "eat milk" verses "drink milk." I think I corrected him once, so since then he will periodically snicker and say "Eat milk!" and we'll then go back and forth laughing and debating. He started a new one tonight, not exactly word play but more just a debate. I want him to sit on the potty, but he wants milk. So he'll just laugh and keep saying milk every time I point him towards the potty. (I won and he did pee.)
