animals are hungry, too + wine & cheese, take two

Nolan is big into pretending that inanimate toys can eat, read books and go to sleep with him. Oh, and they need their teeth brushed, too. Here he is sharing his milk with a reindeer finger puppet he got from a recent visitor Irene (who bless her heart had to witness the worst fit in his toddler history... we had to leave the restaurant because of incessant crying... turned out to be fatigue plus hunger plus molar pain). He loves to look through the photo albums and tonight wanted to share his bus with himself in the picture. Usually there is some toy at the dinner table that is hungry, too, and we have to feed horses, monkeys and even his car along with Nolan.

We had our second wine and cheese party, the first when we had just been here a couple months and I wanted to sample why Wisconsin was so well known for cheese. We had many neighbors over, perfect for a cold night in the teens. The most interesting thing was how all the adults converged on the kitchen (for body heat?) and all the kids had the living room to themselves. It was actually quite hot and loud in our kitchen... louder than the kid's area. At the peak, I believe there were eight kids on one end of the house and they really played incredibly well together. One neighbor's seven year old boy was being so sweet to Nolan, drawing pictures and entertaining him. I actually got to enjoy myself.
