for our Labor Day weekend festivities we toured the lake. the breeze is so refreshing and Nolan checked out the waves. he is into water at this point, meaning i hope it's a phase. the way he likes to play in water is hands on, mostly when it's in a glass or a dog bowl. he digs his bath and swimming in a pool is OK, but sticking his whole hand and arm down into your water glass is too much fun. at dinner tonight (we were checking out an old style Mexican place) everything was fine until i wouldn't let him splash water everywhere.
he did manage to eat well before the minor meltdown. all of a sudden he's taken off with eating finger foods, so much so that it's near impossible to spoonfeed him anything (unless it's yogurt which he loves). the other night he ate corn off the cob, eggplant, good Wisconsin cheese and of course Cheerios. he had a fig & flax waffle for lunch today and some of the tortilla that was floating in my tomato based soup at dinner tonight along with avocado and rice. this is very exciting to me as you can tell by the blow-by-blow menu account.
the requisite Labor Day weekend cookout was had as well. we went to see the only old friend we have here in Milwaukee and partied with their family and friends. there were eight other young kids there, possibly the most Nolan's ever been around. he did relatively well for not eating well that day and teething. once he ate some beets, veggie burger and crackers he was much happier and in the party spirit.
he's also clapping. as i was watching him from my bed one morning, he just started clapping and now does it regularly and proudly.
today i started working. after my second maternity leave esentially, i am back at work and the boys are together again. it went as well as it could. my day was fine. lots of orientation. but that's not the real news. i've already told the most interesting stories.
