this last week in Chattanooga is definitely about moving. Nolan here is flirting with my boss's daughter, who was born only a week after him. the extraordinary mess on his pjs is from spitting up while crawling on his belly and then self-cleaning his mess as he pulled himself through it. classy.
Nolan is very experimental now. he's in a musical phase for sure. he sings, he plays the piano keys instead of tossing the toy piano around and he's discovered that talking into his bottle makes the funniest sounds. John thinks he's trying to bring back old-timey jug playin'. it all started one night when Nolan was sitting on the kitchen floor with his bottle as we were getting dinner ready. we heard this deep song-like noises and wondered where it came from... very surprising noises from a baby. he entertained us at dinner, as Grandma and Grumpa visited this weekend.
we got additional visitors on Sunday... Uncle Collin and Emily along with Uncle Edwin and Aunt Karen. it was great to see everyone together, and Nolan was up to entertaining everyone. we wore ourselves out on the hottest day in a while... we've had an unseasonably cool July but the heat and humidity came back with a vengence today. a good parting gift from Tennessee.
Nolan's moving like crazy now. each day it's exponentially more. it used to be he'd do his commando crawl a few feet and roll over, now he's going across rooms. he's pushing himself up to sitting and pulling to standing as if he's always been able. his own inovation has been to use the laundry basket like a walker... he loves to pull stuff out of it and one day he started pushing it forward and actually kept up with the motion with his feet. this is the only reason i can say thank goodness we're leaving before we have to totally childproof this temporary home... of course the next in Milwaukee will be boxes for a while, too.
