while i was still at my course, we got to stay with our friends' folks in Santa Cruz instead of a hotel. it was an incredible horse ranch with the ocean in view. John got to ride a horse while i assume the women folks were watching Nolan...
we went to the Natural Bridges beach and did not interupt Nolan's much needed nap. i'm sure the real ocean sounds were more effective at soothing him than the tinny music his swing used to play for him.
he did wake up though, but maybe because the wind was so strong he spent the whole time as we walked up and down the beach nuzzled on my chest, humming. Jeff, our friend (and avid blog fan) was brave enough to swim in the cold Pacific. you could tell the sun must not come out too often in Portland where he's from by his sunburn... i'll spare him the embarassment of the photos...
Ginger took us for a walk along the cliff while Jeff & Drew continued to boogy board, Nolan still nuzzling.

I made it into the Lewis Noisemaker blog! I'm so happy!
All the skin on my arms, back, and chest is currently peeling off due to all the sun exposure in sunny Santa Cruz. Was it worth it? YES!!
