scenes from possibly the craziest birthday party for a two year old ever

Let me just say how inexperienced I am at throwing a party for a two year old. With all good intentions, we wanted to have our friends over to celebrate Nolan's birthday. That added up to a lot of adults but even more toddlers. If I count correctly, I think there were ten children, all pre-schoolers of various ages. Add in the fact that work had been keeping me very busy, so I had little time to plan the party, much less the huge vacation we were leaving on the next day. So I had no beverages for the kids which resulted in mid-party run for juice boxes. I didn't even have plastic cups to give them water.

The party still ended up being a smash hit, with only one injury (that I know about) and hardly any tears by anyone including myself. Everyone had a great time, especially Nolan who reveled in all of the company and attention by toddler girls. I saw two little girls pushing him on his car at one point. He cried only once, when we were singing happy birthday! He saw the very car I pulled him off of for his serenading being played with by another boy and did not care about the cake in front of him. This was the first a three crying bouts during the happy birthday song... next year hopefully better luck. Nolan ate three bites of cake and was off to dance and play again. He declared it over at 7:30 however, when he went upstairs to play with his new toys and to go to bed.
