So, did I mention that Nolan had the birthday song sung to him three times? And that he cried or fussed for all three times? So finally, on his actual birthday, we had a wonderful cake made by my high school biology teacher since she was already making cake for the wedding. She found some great toy cars to put on top and everything, good bait for our boy you would think. He started fussing a little bit while we were singing, but this time for the bowl of m&m's on the table! Nolan and I have gone on a special bike trip together a couple of times, which takes us to the Annona Bistro for an egg, tomato and cheese panini just like we get at the farmer's market, and then across the street to the Hi-Fi Cafe to put a quarter in the candy machine and get some m&m's. We then sit with the hipsters, pick a song from the juke box and ride back home. So when Nolan saw a whole BOWL of m&m's it was too exciting and at first took priority over the birthday cake. In a series of photos, you can see the subtle signs of m&m love.

Fussing and reaching for the bowl of m&m's.

Eyes on the bowl and delicious candies...

Handful of m&m's and wondering why everyone wants him to pay attention to the cake... then he does later notice the cars on top. It was a delicious cake.
