Nolan's Grandma has been here (and still is here) and we had a wonderful morning at the zoo this past weekend. it was our second trip in a week, so i think the shock factor of seeing the animals is his books has worn off a bit. it gets a bit monotonous taking pictures of Nolan in front of various fences, but i thought this was a choice shot with the zebra up close. his animal vocabulary is expanding every day. one of my favorites is "bug" as he picks up a beetle shell and squeezes it. his Grandma said he picked up a live beetle he and his neighbor friend Ruby were both looking at today. a giraffe is "aff" and an elephant is a vibrating "bbbbbrrrr" imitating my imitation of an elephant noise. he actually said cheetah tonight... our encounter with the pacing cheetah only a few feet away from us (behind glass) must've made an impact. his word for peacock sounds kinda like "beegog" per Grandma. alligator is "alie" but cat is still "ah" without the c and t. some old habits die hard.
per doctor's orders (literally) Nolan is to be eating more fat. our diet is way too healthy and we're to put butter on everything and feed him ice cream. he proportionate weight for height, but his weight and height are still a bit smallish. per his doctor i was a "super-incubator" when he was baby and he exceeded his inborn potential, but now that he feeds himself... he's slowed down. so the awesome thing for Nolan is all the ice cream he's getting... he pointed to the freezer the other morning first thing wanting it for breakfast even. we've created an ice cream monster. he says ice cream and cookie nearly perfectly.
