we brought neighbors along for our favorite Friday night event eating "itza" at Classic Slice. Nolan had just gotten a new school bus and would not part with it. he loves some of his cars so much that he can't bear it. he can't hold them close enough and certainly can't part with them at nap time or bedtime. in fact, that's how i've finally managed to get him to go to bed on his own. for months now i've been rocking him to sleep because it was quicker and without the hour of crying (literally) that it took for him to go to sleep on his own. but periodically i've put him down to see what would happen. this time, with a car! he fussed the first night for five minutes, the next night two minutes and now with zero fussing as he watches me go. i have enjoyed rocking him to sleep, and many days it was my favorite most relaxing time of the day. Nolan's new confidence is just another sign of how much he's growing and changing.
i guess Nolan has also hit that point where language begins to flow. i'm picking up on words that maybe were there before but didn't know what they meant. and he keeps practicing them! he'll say the same thing over and over, like the other night "peas". it really sounds more like "gee" but he's at least consistent. donkeys are "hee haw" and horse is "herse". certain things i wish i knew... but i think it's just phonetic fun. he goes "begwee boogie" endlessly like some kind of comedian so i know he's knows the "b" sound, yet he still insists on calling a baby "dayde".
