this year with my new job, i was a little more difficult to get down to Tennessee for Christmas so we had a bit of delayed merriment. it's also Grumpa's birthday Christmas Day so we got birthday cake, a yummy pound cake. a most exciting gift i think this visit has been how into Grumpa Nolan has become. from the moment we landed in Tennessee i hardly ever had to pick him up because he wanted his Grandma or Grumpa. now my mom is used to special treatment (especially the hugs), but my dad's been waiting for the day when he was favored and got to play with Nolan. Nolan loved all the tickling, tossing and trouncing around outdoors he got to do with his Grumpa.
a game Nolan invented was car shuffling... for some reason he wanted to move his cars (repeatedly) from the coffee table to another table only four feet away... he'd carry on moving two or three cars like this for a while and be very quiet and serious about his work.
