la madre

Nolan has a collection of stories which includes the tale Are You My Mother? by P.D. Eastman. I once pondered how a toddler learns so many words so quickly, and many meaning the same thing. His books have multiple references to parents; mom, mama, mommy and mother. So I asked him, "Am I your mother?" To which he replied, "No, you're mama!"

This should make teaching him Spanish very interesting. I am so reluctant to share it with Nolan because of my concerns that my grammar isn't well spoke, but John is threatening to teach him Spanish if I don't and his diction is horrible so I'm giving it a shot. Nolan thinks I'm making jokes and will say, "No, it's not a pescado, it's a fish!" We'll see how this goes... I do actually have a transition on the way home from work since in the car I'm still thinking in Spanish, but once I'm home it's all back to English. I guess I should just hold on that transition.
