a real waterfall

we've hada great weekend so far. we had our first official party friday potluck style, with many friends ogling our party host, Nolan. there were three other babies visiting, too, ages 7 weeks, 3 months and 10 months. our nursery was pretty busy... Nolan shared his tinker toys with a 2 year old friend from down the street.

we then had a visit from the Johnson grandparents and Nolan showed off as usual. my dad had to catch up on a lot of Nolan's baby skills. today we went for a hike at Cloudland Canyon on the other end of Lookout Mountain. we stuck the dogs in the back of the wagon and hoped we could all have a nice hike, but the dogs were afraid of the see-through metal grates in the steps on the way down to the waterfall so John and i took turns hiking the tenth of a mile to see them. i really wanted Nolan to feel the breeze from a waterfall and hear the sound of it... a little different from the waterfall sound produced by his swing. he cooed his way through most of the hike and took it all in.

Nolan's now learned that he has a falsetto range and yodels and reaches a piercing pitch when he's happy... and occasionally when he's fussy... he really seems to enjoy the singing now.

Love this noisemaker blog. We will be visiting it often, so please keep it up. Can't believe your moving to Milwaukee. Pencil us in for a visit when the Pirates are there to play the Brewers. Gotta get the noisemaker to a baseball game!
