Chicago, the other city

The impetus that finally got us into Chicago were some of John's friends, Mark and Michelle, visiting the windy city. They came to our wedding and we have visited them, so it was good to get together again for them to meet Nolan. We all stayed in the same hotel so we could hang out after Nolan was asleep, but Nolan decided to just party with us. He is so good at staying up late (and typically very happy and entertaining) for such a young toddler.

We really should go to Chicago more often. We've been meaning to ride the train down for a while, and after such a great trip I think we will plan one again soon. Nolan thoroughly enjoyed the EL train. Since we didn't need to ride anywhere, we just got on (after fumbling with the ticket machine, not a proud moment for John since he lived there so many years...) and we rode up a few stops and then back.

We got to eat at Irazu, where John & I had our first date. Nolan got to hang out in Su's lap for a while, and then he politely got down to come back over to his high chair to not eat his dinner. We thought about taking Nolan to the Rainbo, a bar where John and I took photo booth style pictures of ourselves on that first date, but since it was normally a very crowded bar and we weren't sure that Chicago had the same rules as Milwaukee, we decided not to go... we've heard that in Milwaukee minors can drink at the bar in the company of their parents... it's probably hearsay.
