another zoo, another good time

This past weekend we went to check out the Brookfield Zoo near Chicago with some of John's visiting friends. It's a little bit odd we haven't gone to Chicago with Nolan yet, since we've lived here going on two years now... it just goes to show how good a time we're having here without traveling a mere hour and a half down the road to one of the biggest cities in the country. The zoo was great, but it did make me appreciate our own zoo here a lot more. As soon as we got to the zoo, Nolan assumed we would be riding a zoo train, but he was very pleased with the substitute zoo tram. So were we, as the distances between exhibits were very long. The traveling life size dinosaur exhibit was awesome! Nolan wasn't scared in the least by it's size or the loud roaring the came from a speaker below. One of the best parts for Nolan was the petting zoo. He loved brushing the goats and then was very timid about touching a baby chick. He wouldn't at first, so I assumed he was done, but as we left the building he said, "I want to touch the chicken!" So back we went and he triumphantly petted it.
