it's been a tough busy week as Nolan's been trying to gain back the weight lost while feeling sleepy for a few days after surgery. as you can tell he's still a super chunky baby! he's been more interested in chewing anything he can grab and has a pretty quick hand to mouth reflex. he got some new toys he loves- the plastic links are just the right size he can be sure to get them in his mouth and we've got them all over the house now. in the tub, hanging from his play mat, from the bouncey chair...
but he seemed so hungry the past couple days that i broke out the rice cereal tonight. at first he was more interested in chewing on the spoon. he wanted to feed himself it seemed- he kept grabbing the spoon and sucked on it. i know now why a bib is required when feeding a baby, but this first time i just wanted to see how messy it could get. when he realized that the yummy stuff would keep coming, he'd drop the spoon and bounce a bit eagerly looking at the bowl and then opened his mouth in anticipation of each bite. i hope he swallowed some of it, there was so much on his chins... he got full before i ran out of cereal. i can only hope that means a good night's sleep for all of us, especially since i'm on call tomorrow night!
