i've finally taken the initiative to post stuff to this journal of Nolan. he's learned so much already at five and a half weeks. how to smile, when he's about to get fed (he gets real quiet & big-eyed when he realizes it), how to kick & drum with his feet (he loves to lay on his changing pad or crib and do his calesthenics) and he has the cutest cooing noises. and we're learning his signals for "i'm about to poop" and "i need to sleep but you're going to have to rock me there" and multiple other important baby things.
i can tell he's going to be social and a talker. he's very expressive vocally in all he does, especially when eating. he even talks in his sleep which confused us at first thinking he needed something... he's very alert for so young and wants to know what's going on around him. he may become an art critic... he'll often stare at the paintings, pictures and posters on our wall and today he smiled as he stared at one of my mom's paintings of fruit. we'll see what comes true over time.
