dragon park & imaginary friends

Since moving here to Nashville, we've tried to show Nolan some key attractions for a boy his age. He daily reminds us of things he misses in Milwaukee but is creating some bonds to his new city, such as an affection for "dragon park." Some things however that he misses dearly are the beach on Lake Michigan, his friends, the dinosaur exhibit at the zoo along with the zoo train, the list goes on and on of what he tells us about. The most interesting development has been the plethora of imaginary friends. There's Trudy, the flying mouse that lives in the radio in our dining room. She frequently comes out to fly around and land on us at meal times. Most importantly there's his old friends that he imagines are here. When we were going to have company and we were discussing sharing his toys, Nolan told me that he would only share them with Ruby & Elijah, his old Milwaukee neighbors. Later in life Nolan may not remember much about what happened before he turned four, but now it's all he knows. We are just supporting him the best we can through this huge transition. He asks often why we moved and tells me the answer himself now, that we wanted to live near family, and he's quite happy with that at least.
