ONE

So Nolan is officially one year old now!!! we had a wonderful birthday weekend in Springfield, IL with all four grandparents, Aunties Kara, Marsha, Sandi and Patti, Uncles Mark and Lyle (unfortunately Uncle Collin had to work but we'll see him in a couple weeks) and his cousin Addison who turned one a month ago.


as a prelude to our weekend excitement, our neighbors came over with the ultimate gift for a son of ours... a toy record player which of course plays real records. all the kids wanted to get their hands on the needle and scratch of course being as hip as they inherently are, so the gift will rest on top of the record cabinet for now.


at his Nana & Papa's were so many new toys to play with. he would walk with this one but still wanted my hand, too. he got one like it of his own to his joy, a popper push toy. he's digging it.


a lot of gifts were given to our precious one year old as proven by the paper scattered, but he really only sat still to pay attention to this book he got from his Grandma and Grumpa. it has shapes he can pull out of the foam book... very fun. anything that bribes a tot to read.



as excited as i was to let him have sugar, he didn't seem to think it was that big of a deal. he fed the frosting to his dad and picked at the cake a little bit. i tried again the next day but again, not that interesting to him. we had a wonderful weekend with family and Nolan was thrilled to see his grandparents again. it was precious to see how he recognized them all. as a bonus he traveled so well in the car. he just played the whole way home with either John or i. i'm a little bit in shock over the huge accomplishments of the past twelve months... Nolan is a very good boy and we love him.
