we had a successful and whirlwind trip to Tennessee this past weekend. it was the first time we'd visited since moving to Wisconsin. we had a lot to do in just a couple days, which makes me look forward to a long trip soon. we had to see Asia's first solo art exhibit. Nolan got to wander around a little bit but was quickly redirected or snatched up before walking into a pottery piece. the picture above somewhat illustrates Nolan's new thing... head banging. he'd test out how solid objects were before, but this is deliberate (and joyful) head banging. he's experimenting with it when he's upset, too, so we can only hope he doesn't take after his Uncle Collin who would bang his head so much when he was upset he got a dent in his head. to really see the beautiful piece Asia made i included the picture below.
another big event of the weekend was to find out Nolan's going to have another Aunt. Collin and Emily got engaged the weekend before. we got to spend a lot of time with them thankfully, it had been a while. since we were at the grandparents, Nolan got to watch a little television and it was so cute to watch Nolan grab Collin's leg as he stared at the TV and then he just rested on his chest... he almost went to sleep.
the next picture is distressing... but cute. as we document the ailments and traumas of our son, we have another chapter. poor Nolan's been sick almost since his birthday, making his 13th month of his life a rough one, but he's been in great spirits. this morning he woke up with an awful rash from the amoxicillin he's been taking for an ear infection. it doesn't bother him, but it's bothersome to look at.
he's playing telephone with everything it seems. bath toys are no exception. he even does his baby talk in full sentences in a self-important tone. and just for the record, since Halloween got kind of side-tracked by other events, he was a cute monkey for the office party and a scary skeleton at Boo at the Zoo. he had another costume waiting... a track suit we were going to style as a Beastie Boys outfit. the boy's got the beat. we now regularly dance and clap to music when i get home from work.
