Nolan gets quite homesick when we travel now. He usually pleads each day at least once if we can go home now. It's quite pitiful, but at least it's always obvious that he's having a good time. Before we went home from our trip to Springfield, we wanted to stay a night in Chicago. We knew riding the trains would overcome any desire to go home, and it did, but he pretty much just wanted to be on a train or in a car headed home.
We did have a great time at the Shedd Aquarium, then a taxi to Myopic books and dinner. It was extremely cold, close to zero with subzero wind chill of course, so the walk to the bus stop was unthinkable. Nolan likes taxis though, and promptly fell asleep. John and I practically had dinner to ourselves at Earwax. A train back to the hotel then, and a very happy but not sleepy boy played in the hotel room.
This is the best shot I could get of the interior of the Palmer Hotel's lobby.... Nolan's hair has been seriously unmanageable for a while now and again begging to be cut. It was a grand hotel, near our morning destination, the Art Institute of Chicago. Nolan zipped through the museum at a record pace. We then went to the Russian Tea Room to meet some of John's friends for lunch. Nolan slept the whole time in my lap. He loved his blintz later though!
