moments at home

I realized I had a backlog of pictures from just hanging out at home. It's harder to keep up with Nolan or capture his craziness by camera nowadays. This is his "movie watching hat" he informed me as he was getting ready to watch Curious George. We've taken two trips as a family to the local video store, and the first time he looked all the way up and down the children's aisle and picked out Curious George. Ever since we have had to decipher Nolan's monkey language as he constantly imitates the intonations of his favorite monkey. The second time we went to the video store was actually this weekend and he picked out Winnie the Pooh much to my delight. We've enjoyed all the classic tales together and Nolan's been shrieking with laughter, especially at Tigger. I'm waiting on what he pretends to be next and whether I will get pounced.


Nolan sticks to his schedule pretty well all his own, whether he likes it or not. Typically, at bedtime or lately just when it starts to get dark, Nolan will sit in this spot on the couch and pull the blanket around him and wait for me. Sometimes I don't notice immediately and then look with surprise at how much he likes this nightly routine. He's waiting for his cup of milk and bowl of crackers to munch while we read books. With the sun going down before 7 PM, Nolan's been a little confused and sitting down earlier and earlier. I won't complain. He also he constantly asking questions with obvious answers, like "Is it day?" and "Is it night?" It seems that he asks because that lets him know what he gets to do. First thing in the morning, he'll make sure it's morning and daytime and then again at lunch he wants to make sure it's morning and then is disappointed to find out it's afternoon since that means he's soon supposed to take a nap. He now knows about evening and dusk, and knows that night is coming soon. It's funny to hear him obsessing about the time of day, but we all keep track of it, too.


It was only a matter of time, but he recently dumped out all the toys from his boxes and tried them all out for size. He fits perfectly! There is video footage to prove it, another blog someday.
