Lately Nolan has been asking some big questions, usually followed by the answer he wants to here. Point blank, he asked Grandma if she was going to die! She made a good reply to which Nolan stated we all die and then come back alive again. Tonight he asked me about his toy boat complete with sailors that look like pirates and one that looks like Captain Hook. There's even a crocodile. (Love the generic toys...) He liked watching Peter Pan one movie night, except for everything to do with the pirates. He wanted to play with the boat, but couldn't morally condone playing with bad guys. I told him it was OK to imagine that they were all good sailors and didn't have to be bad pirates, which pleased him, but he still was concerned about the hook for a hand and pushed further about why the crocodile would eat his hand. He then moved on to sharks! He had to know if sharks really do eat people, and if there were other fish that ate people. We had a healthy discussion about all of this, which will I hope leave him free of nightmares, but it's a bit intense hearing him figure out the good and not-so-good in the world.
Nico is grasping in the lighter sense of the word! For a bit now she's been more controlled but she's on target now, and throws in a little twist to reach! She loves grabbing Nolan's face, probably getting him back for being so close all the time. She also does a mighty powerful high five! Last night during her bath she was slapping her arm down with such vigor the water was going everywhere! I guess it's time for a bigger tub or we're all going to be wet!
